Founder and Chair

Judith M. von Seldeneck is the Founder and Chair of Diversified Search Group, headquartered in Philadelphia. A pioneer in the search industry, she has been identifying and placing senior-level executive talent around the country for more than four decades.

A born-and-bred North Carolinian, she began her career as an executive assistant to then-Senator Walter F. Mondale in Washington, D.C. Her road into executive search commenced in the early 1970s when she bought into a small Philadelphia firm founded to find temp jobs for women. Buying out her partners in 1974, over the next several decades von Seldeneck built Diversified Search into one of the top ten executive search firms in the nation.

During the course of her career, von Seldeneck has been recognized by the executive search industry as setting the standard for retained executive search and has been active on numerous public, private, and not-for-profit boards of directors. Some of these include Citizens Financial Group; Tasty Baking Company; Teleflex, Inc.; CoreStates Financial Group; Meridian Bancorp; and AAA MidAtlantic.  She has also served as Chair for the Philadelphia Chapter of the National Association of Corporate Directors. She formerly served on the Comcast and NBC Universal Joint Diversity Council and as Chairperson of the Women’s Advisory Council. She was also a founder of the Forum of Executive Women, the largest association of women business leaders in the Philadelphia region.

She has been the recipient of dozens of awards and honors recognizing her achievements both professionally and philanthropically. These include the William Penn Award, the highest honor bestowed by the business community of Greater Philadelphia; the Drexel LeBow Business Leader of the Year Award, one of the most prestigious honors in the Greater Philadelphia region; the Association of Executive Search Consultants’ Eleanor H. Raynolds Award for Excellence in Executive Search; being designated as one of BusinessWeek’s Top 50 Most Influential Executive Recruiters in the World; and induction into the Philadelphia Business Hall of Fame. She is also a Global Board Member of AltoPartners.

Aileen K. Alexander is the Chief Executive Officer of Diversified Search Group, the largest woman-founded executive search firm in the world. Her responsibilities include oversight and management of the company.  She previously served as Vice Chair, leading the firm’s Global Corporate Practice. Aileen is a Global Board Member of AltoPartners, a leading international alliance of executive search firms, with Diversified Search Group as the exclusive U.S. partner.

Based in Philadelphia, Alexander is a recognized leader in the executive search and talent management industry, having led C-Suite and Board level searches from large, global corporations to high growth entrepreneurial companies.  She leverages her expertise in technology, cybersecurity, risk management, leadership, and succession planning to enable clients to achieve their purpose and strategic priorities.  Alexander is committed to ensuring client service that is creative, nimble, responsive, and centered on people first and building diverse teams that drive innovation, growth, and inclusive cultures.

Prior to joining DSG, Alexander was a Managing Partner at Korn Ferry where she co-Launched and co-led the firm’s Global Cybersecurity Practice.  She had leadership responsibilities for Philadelphia and was also a member of the Technology Officers and Aerospace and Defense practices. She entered the industry with Heidrick & Struggles, in their Washington, DC office.

Before embarking on her career in executive search, Alexander worked in international security and defense policy at the Department of Defense and U.S. House of Representatives.  She is also a military veteran, having served as a Captain in the U.S. Army.

Alexander is a member of the CEO Council of Growth at the Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce. She also sits on the Board of her alma mater, Villa Joseph Marie High School in Holland, PA.

Working with a portfolio of blue-chip international clients such as Kraft, Duracell, McKinsey, AC Nielson, Guinness, and SmithKline Beecham, she managed key business assignments across the United Kingdom.

Prior to her search career, Boreham held various business and marketing leadership positions with the largest and fastest-growing division of Baxter Healthcare, Inc., where she was responsible for launching a range of product lines that gained worldwide recognition, and more recently as Business Manager for the Critical Care division at Johnson & Johnson, where she was responsible for the development of a patient monitoring technology product in the provider healthcare space.

Craig’s career in search began at Coleman Research Group in New York, where he worked as a Research Associate and Recruiting Associate in the firm’s Technology, Media, and Telecommunications practice. There, he performed primary research services for various institutional clients, including over 200 hedge funds, private equity firms, and management consulting firms.

Prior to joining Diversified Search in 2019, Craig worked as a Consultant in the technology practice at Marlin Hawk. There, he managed full life-cycle recruitment and market intelligence projects for a variety of Fortune 500 clients in all industries, with a focus on the information technology function.

Prior to his time at Marlin Hawk, Craig worked as a Senior Analyst and Global Knowledge Manager in the technology practice at Korn Ferry, where he supported a team of 93 senior associates, senior client partners, principals, and managing directors on various strategic initiatives, research needs, and business development efforts.

Robin Goolsbee is a Managing Director in the Corporate Practices of Diversified Search Group. She is based in Chicago. As a trusted advisor and consultant to her clients, Robin identifies and recruits leaders to C-suite and other senior-level roles across all functional areas. Robin focuses on corporate clients and professional services. Her experience in this realm spans nearly two decades.

Robin began her career in management consulting at Boston Consulting Group in their Boston and London offices where she served consumer goods and industrial firms. Later, at McKinsey & Company in Chicago, she served retail, consumer goods and media and education clients as an Engagement Manager.

Prior to joining Diversified Search Group, she served as a Senior Principal at Business Talent Group. Now, a Heidrick & Struggles subsidiary, Business Talent Group is the leading provider of on-demand consultants and experts. While at BTG, she scoped and sold consulting projects and curated consulting talent from BTG’s network of 15,000 independent consultants. Her clients were Fortune 500 firms, leading professional services firms, and Private Equity portfolio companies. Her work included placing C-level executives in interim roles as well.

Robin is also a skilled business development executive. Earlier in her career, Robin served as Director of Business Development at MTV International. She then worked as an Assistant VP of Business Development at UNext, a corporate training and MBA-education provider offering courses in partnership with Stanford Business School, Columbia Business School, The London School of Economics, University of Chicago’s Booth Graduate School of Business and Carnegie Mellon.

Robin has served on a number of civic boards including the University of Chicago’s Comer Children’s Hospital and spends her time with her husband and three children.

Dale E. Jones is a Senior Advisor of Diversified Search Group, having previously served as its Chief Executive Officer for over eight years. His expertise serves search clients in the corporate, Board, and CEO practices.

In 2020, Dale was honored with the “Award of Excellence” by the Association of Executive Search Consultants (AESC), the industry’s highest honor. The AESC President called him “a role model for leadership within our profession”.

A native of Dallas, Jones was the son of a shoe cobbler/janitor and a kindergarten teacher; beginning at age 10, young Dale would often join his dad and brother on weekends cleaning office buildings. Advised by a family pastor and influenced by the fact that the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King had attended there, Jones enrolled at Atlanta’s Morehouse College. He began his career in banking, before moving into executive search as a managing partner in the Atlanta office of Heidrick & Struggles International in 1999. Always looking for ways to give back, Jones took a hiatus from the search industry in 2007, relocating to Washington, D.C. to lead a philanthropic initiative, endowed by AOL founder Steve Case and his wife, Jean, that was dedicated to providing access to clean water in Africa.

Jones returned to executive search in 2009, rejoining Heidrick & Struggles to serve as Vice Chairman and Partner of the CEO and Board Practice, where he consulted CEOs and corporate boards on human capital issues including recruiting, retention, succession planning, and corporate governance. He also served as one of the firm’s leaders in the Global Communications and Global Consumer Practice, and was later asked to oversee the CEO and Board Practice in the Americas.

In 2013, when founder Judith M. von Seldeneck moved into the role of Chairman at Diversified Search, Jones was named the firm’s new CEO, based in Washington, D.C. His philosophy on great leadership is simple: “I think it is important that leaders have the ability to inspire and motivate people and to lead by example. I think the best leaders have been through some testing in their journey, so that they can really empathize, not only with the people that they lead, but with their customers.”

Jones is a member of several notable national corporate and philanthropic boards, most notably those of Northwestern Mutual, The Special Olympics, Chick-fil-A, and his alma mater, Morehouse College. He is also a Global Board Member of AltoPartners.

Jim Langston is Managing Director and Co-Practice Leader, Financial Officers at Diversified Search Group. After beginning his career in public accounting, Langston spent eight years with Prudential Financial in audit, finance, and treasury operations. He later founded a consultancy providing succession and estate plans for business owners and high-net-worth individuals and families. His executive search career began in 1995 with an at-that-time boutique firm—now Kenexa—where he was instrumental in starting their retained Financial Officers practice. He was later a Managing Director with both Heidrick & Struggles and Korn/Ferry, continuing to focus on Financial Officer searches. Although his business has often focused on Fortune 1,000 clients, working at the director, VP, and C-suite levels, he also works with international early-stage and venture-backed organizations to identify and recruit world-class management talent.

Langston’s process is built on his varied and unique business experience. Using a consultative approach, insight, and intuition to understand an organization’s dynamics and operating environment, he identifies leadership that is best suited to its particular needs. She now serves as a Board Advisor to POD and is a member of the Board of Directors of Skout, a P/E backed cybersecurity firm.

Pemberton-Heard previously spent fifteen years as Group Counsel, Programming and Business Affairs at the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS), the nation’s largest non-commercial media enterprise where she directed work on behalf of PBS and its 300 plus member stations, and led negotiations between and among PBS, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, the Department of Education, The Kennedy Center, National Endowment for the Arts, National Science Foundation and others while collaborating with on-air talent, arts and cultural institutions and funders. Before joining PBS, she served as Group Counsel for Thales, Inc. and as Vice President, Legal and Business Affairs at Time Life (TWX), and as a Legal and Business affairs leader at Discovery Communications, Inc. (DISCA) where she supported the production teams as well as corporate philanthropy and community affairs.

Pemberton-Heard began her law career in private practice as a commercial real estate attorney with Wiggin and Dana and was subsequently associated with the New York firm of Cowan Liebowitz and Latman, where she focused on intellectual property litigation and portfolio management. She has published scholarly works in the area of Copyright and Trademark Law and has experience in compliance and Board Governance matters. Pemberton-Heard has a B.A. in Political Science from Tufts University, a Law Degree for Case Western Reserve University, and is an alumna of Columbia University Graduate School of Business.

A past Regional Judge for President Obama’s Presidential Commission on White House Fellowships, Pemberton-Heard is committed to emerging leaders, talent pipeline development, community service and corporate social responsibility initiatives. She was a Founder of Level 8- a committed group of women focused on leveling the playing field and providing equal access for Washington, DC youth.
